The law we follow

We handle personal information in line with the 13 Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) oversees the Act and handles privacy complaints. Personal information means information about you as an identified or reasonably identifiable person, such as your name or email address.

What we don’t collect

Our pages carry no analytics or visitor statistics tools, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no social media buttons that report back to their owners. Apart from our host, no other company’s servers supply scripts, fonts or images to our pages. There are no accounts, logins, comment boxes or contact forms, and nothing you do on a page is sent back to us.

We use Google Search Console to see how often our pages appear in Google’s results and which searches lead to them. Google provides those figures in aggregate from its own search data. Search Console adds no code or cookies to our pages, so it tells us nothing about you as an individual visitor.

What our host processes

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web server, Cloudflare processes technical data when you load a page, such as your IP address, browser type and the address you requested, to deliver the page and protect the site from attacks and abuse. Cloudflare runs a global network, so this data may be processed outside Australia.

Cloudflare handles this data under its own privacy policy, which lists “IP addresses, traffic routing data” among the information it processes for websites that use its services. We don’t use this technical data to identify visitors or build profiles, and we don’t sell or share it.

Email you send us

If you email [email protected], we receive your email address, any name you include and your message. We use them only to reply and, if you’ve reported an error, to check and fix the page. We don’t add you to a mailing list, and we don’t pass your message on unless the law requires us to.

Your message travels through our email providers’ servers, which may be outside Australia. We keep correspondence only as long as we need it to answer you and to keep a record of corrections, and we’ll delete your messages if you ask. What to include in a message is on our contact page.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your emails, by writing to [email protected]. We aim to reply within 30 days. If we haven’t replied within 30 days, or you’re unhappy with our answer, you can lodge a complaint with the OAIC at oaic.gov.au.
